An Unexpected Turn

In recent years, my professional career at SUSE has been an exciting rollercoaster, full of learning and challenges. After six years dedicated to UX design and development, becoming a Scrum Master, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the world of Project Management until, in December 2023, my career took an unexpected turn due to a company restructuring. The news was a surprise (and an interesting Christmas present) and undoubtedly began a moment of deep reflection on my professional future.

Reflections and Challenges

My experience as a Project Manager at SUSE was enriching but also revealed personal and professional challenges. Although I tried my best, I encountered obstacles, partly due to my lack of specific training in project management and partly due to the difficulty of balancing work demands with my personal life. Being a father to two wonderful children, the day-to-day life of a Project Manager, with its meetings across different time zones and constant pressure, became an overwhelming task.

A New Beginning

This stage led me to introspection about what direction I wanted my career to take. After much thought, I decided it was time to change my professional path. It's not an end, but a new phase, an opportunity to deepen the areas I already master, like UX, and expand my horizons toward new knowledge and skills that are redefining the technological and business world.

Expanding My Knowledge

I have decided to immerse myself in learning project management to strengthen my base in this essential area, delving into Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence. I want to explore no-code tools, web analytics, and the intersection of all these technologies with the world of finance. The goal is to be able to explore new career paths, where this knowledge helps me find new opportunities and who knows, perhaps even start new business projects.

Learning and Resources

To achieve these goals, I am taking advantage of resources like Coursera, a platform that offers a wide range of courses in these areas, taught by the most important companies in the sector, such as Google, IBM, and even universities of the stature of Harvard. The “Coursera Plus” modality.

In addition to Coursera, I have found free platforms that are true treasures of knowledge. A couple of examples are “100 days of AI” (100 days of Artificial Intelligence) or “100 days of no-code” (100 days of no-code), projects where I receive a daily email with a project where I learn a new technology or technique. Along the same lines, I have decided to resume another similar project I started in its day, “Daily UI”, which uses a very similar concept, but for interface design. I will publish all the designs on Dribbble and Behance.

Additionally, I have enrolled in a subsidized course on Artificial Intelligence that has proven to be fascinating and very illuminating.

Sharing This Journey

I have decided to use this blog as a diary of my learning journey. Here I will share my progress, lessons learned, challenges faced, and I hope, inspire others to never stop learning and adapting. The blog is not exclusively focused on sharing this journey; I will continue writing about other topics that fascinate me. I want to develop the habit of writing often. It's something I was passionate about in my adolescence and unfortunately lost over time.

In Summary

I hope this article has inspired you or, at least, entertained you. I am going to continue documenting my path, sharing progress and strategies on how I am acquiring new knowledge. Stick around for more updates and, hopefully, you can get something useful for your own journey. Thanks a million!
